FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

SPONSOR A HOMELESS PET FOR CHRISTMAS

Clinton, MI. (November 22, 2004) – Second Chance Dobes is hoping to make the holidays brighter for a few of their four-legged friends with Sponsor a Homeless Pet.

For any amount a donor wishes to give, Second Chance Dobes will publish the sponsor’s name on the pet notes and sponsor pages of their web site. In addition, they contact donor’s periodically to provide updates on the sponsored animal’s progress. Once the dog is adopted, a donor may visit the Happy Endings page to receive information about the dog’s new life.

Located in Clinton, Michigan, Second Chance Dobes is a non-profit rescue facility for Doberman Pinschers who would have been killed at other animal shelters. Thousands of pets are killed at shelters every year because they cannot be placed in loving homes. People generally prefer adopting healthy puppies, so dogs that are older or ones that will require regular medical attention are often left behind.

Second Chance Dobes brings the unwanted animals to their facility and work to find what they call “forever homes” for these pets. Sometimes this isn’t as easy as it sounds and if a home cannot be found, the dogs remain with Second Chance for the duration of their lives.

While in the care of Second Chance, the Dobermans receive any necessary medical care (including spay/neuter and shots). Many times the dogs must be trained and socialized because, as is sometimes the case, the Dobermans have been mistreated or trained for aggression. All of this costs money (average is $100 - $300 per animal) and Second Chance Dobes relies on the generosity of others to help cover their expenses.

One of the ways Second Chance Dobes raises these much needed funds is through their Sponsor a Homeless Pet Program. For people who would love to help, but cannot adopt one of the dogs, this program is the perfect compromise.

This holiday season, instead of giving Dad another tie, why not sponsor a homeless pet with Second Chance Dobes? You will truly be making a difference in the life of these beautiful dogs. And isn’t helping others what the holiday season is really all about?
